Conservation, Education and Inclusion
Dunollie Museum, Castle, and Grounds are run by the MacDougall of Dunollie Preservation Trust (DPT)
We are a registered charity, founded in 1998, when Morag MacDougall, 31st Clan Chief of the Clan MacDougall entrusted part of her estate to the Board of Trustees. Today, the DPT looks after several listed buildings and monuments, including Dunollie Castle in Oban, Gylen Castle on Kerrera, as well as the 1745 House Museum, which was once part of the living quarters of Dunollie House. The Trust also cares for nationally important archives and a collection of more than 10,000 objects.

Our Board
The DPT is operated by a Board of Trustees and small team of staff who do their upmost to keep the site running with the help of wonderful volunteers.
As a Charitable Trust, any money raised through ticket, shop and café sales is invested directly back into the site. DPT also relies on donations and external grants to fund projects and activities for visitors and the local Oban Community.
The DPT aims to preserve its historic buildings, its museum collections and the heritage attached to them. It also strives to use these for educational purposes on a local, national and international scale, so that as many people as possible can benefit from the conservational efforts and the wealth of knowledge. Its vision is to be the jewel of Oban, to uplift and give back to the local community.
